Things I See
Just along the main road in Bodega Bay, CA, in the area where Alfred Hitchock filmed "The Birds," sits what I orginally thought was a disused barn. (On a subsequent visit, it turned out to be someone's house, painted in entirely different colors.) The bright western light offered a classic study in contrast, as did the rectangularity of the window panes with the formlessness of the peeling paint.
Each piece is printed on metal by infusing dyes directly into specially coated sheets. The clarity and quality of this process is astonishing, with incredible detail and resolution. And the durability is unrivaled--the frame is the aluminum sheet itself, which can be wiped with a wet cloth without damage to the image. There is no glass that is subject to breakage in transit or if dropped.
